At the March 23rd Lancaster City Council Meeting, Vice Mayor Ron Smith presented Arturo and Ana Luz Castañón with the Louis V. Bozigian Gift of the Arts Award on behalf of the Council. The award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions and dedication to spreading the arts throughout the local community.
“The Castañóns provide an exceptional example of what can be accomplished through a strong commitment to the advancement of the arts,” said Smith. “I would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication, which have truly contributed to strengthening the arts here in Lancaster.”
Mr. and Mrs. Castañón are the organizers of “Art Studio AV,” a series of monthly meetings, workshops and seminars designed to promote artists and provide a venue in which to display their art, teach their skills, share common interests in art, network and learn about tools to help them better market their creations.
Ana Luz and Arturo are also joint founders of Kolibri Factoria Del Arte. Ana Luz holds a degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad Anahuac in Mexico, while Arturo holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Both have applied their training to glass-working techniques and producing unique glass art.
The Castañóns have resided in Lancaster since 2003. They have donated both their services and numerous pieces of art to local charities and nonprofits.
